About Us

We are an independent organisation dedicated to building the momentum and capability to scale reusable packaging systems in Aotearoa.

Our vision

Reusable packaging that is good for both people and planet becomes the go-to packaging option for everyday items in Aotearoa. This best-practice reusable packaging will be affordable and accessible for everyday people, will be a preferred packaging option for brands and businesses, and have 30% of the packaging market share for fast moving consumer goods (FMCGs) and takeaways by 2030.

The realisation of our vision will mean a marked decrease in the carbon footprint of packaging systems. Our awa, moana and whenua will be

free of packaging pollution; and meaningful, well-paid local green jobs will be available for people in the reusable packaging system.

Our mission

Drawing on evidence-based research, we will focus on understanding and telling the story of reuse, and fostering collaboration to bring reusable packaging systems to life and grow their strength and presence across the motu.

Social enterprise

Reuse Aotearoa is a Limited Liability social enterprise where profits are used to pursue the purpose. The beneficiaries are the wider social and environmental ecosystem of Aotearoa.

Our funding comes from project grants and research/consulting. Funds are redistributed back into the organisation to further our mission.

We have founders who are able to work in both a voluntary and paid-contracting basis as required.
